When it comes to choosing a new phone or even just renegotiating the terms of your existing package there are plenty of issues that need to be taken into consideration. Do you change your phone? Do you go for a different network provider? Do you opt for a two-year contract? Android or iOS? It can all get a bit confusing and very overwhelming, especially if you only use your phone to let people know you’re safe!
In recent years, there has been a rapid increase in prepaid sim card deals with customers opting to pay for what they use in their contracts as opposed to paying a set fee each month and being tied into a contract for as much as two years without being able to adjust the amount they pay or what they get for their money.
So just what are the advantages to prepaid sims over annual contracts? The list is a long one, but here are the top three.
Cost
As mentioned earlier, people no longer want to be tied into long, expensive contracts that they would have to buy their way out of. Currently people around the world are strapped for cash and looking to cut costs wherever possible. For this reason, having the ability to add credit to your phone as and when you need it is highly beneficial as you only pay for what you use, not what you agree upon with the salesperson.
Freedom
You’re not tied into any contract whatsoever with a prepaid deal, meaning that you can just stop using the sim card whenever you like and go elsewhere. For instance, if you take out a prepaid deal with one carrier, but you find that the coverage in your area is particularly poor, you could move to another with a better reputation for a good signal in your region without having to buy your way out of your contract, or even giving any notice.
Keep Your Phone
Sometimes you find a phone which you really like, but the time comes when you want to upgrade or downgrade your existing prepaid agreement, changing to a different carrier for instance. In this situation, you don’t have to go out and buy a brand new phone or the same phone again just to allow you to do so. Many phones come with universal access, and others can be unlocked which enables you to put in a sim from any carrier.
