Irvine Valley College students with Android phones rejoice, Android applications IVC finally arrived.
This application is available for students of Saddleback as soon as convenient for many students, both Android and iPhone. Jim Gaston, Associate Director of IT SOCCCD, is the brains behind the application.
“Gaston initiated application idea,” said Amy Wheeler, Public Information Officer about Saddleback. “[Development application] talk to [students] so that you feel comfortable and make use of new technologies.”
Android and iPhone applications for GPS maps and added that shows the exact location of the classroom or anywhere on campus.
Also, if the instructor using Blackboard, students can now access the contents of the class and participate in discussions from your phone.
Saddleback College is really a first community college to have an app for the Apple products, according to Wheeler.
“I think [the application of Saddleback] very well,” said Wheeler. “We hope to reach other phones as soon as [we]. That’s our next step after the launch. “
This application is easy to expand on the Blackberry. In addition, the mobile version of the network is built so that students can access the application functions on any smartphone with a browser.
“We have had over 6,000 downloads, so we’re pleased with the level of interest our students have shown in [the application],” said Gaston.
Android application has several features compared to the iPhone, the ability to use the school directory and find the phone number of a teacher with one click.
Also available with the app is a feature called Contact Us that will allow students to view a list of frequently called numbers.
Unfortunately, the Saddleback App for Android is not available yet. The IVC app became available forIVC students on Aug. 22.
